History of Cards With A HeartTM
|
As life sometimes goes, the vivacious women who began this tradition of helping charities, Wendy Hauptman and Linda Kaidin were each afflicted with breast
cancer. Knowing that they must dedicate their time to getting healthy, the ladies then decided to ask Kellie Nicholson, owner of Grandma Gillie's Greetings, to
take the reins of the company. Hauptman and Kaidin act as consultants with Nicholson sharing her fresh ideas and skills as a successful entrepreneur while
continuing to convey the philosophies that made the company prosperous.
Nicholson sees the future of Cards With A Heart stretching far beyond the trend of mixing commerce and charity. “As the world changes, so must we and the
way we do business. We believe that everyone’s problems are our problems and, since we can help, we must.”
Enthusiastic about the merger, all involved agree that the "heart" of the business is in remembering that every card purchased through the Cards With A Heart
Charity Card Programs is about much more than sending a greeting, but also sending a gift to the community.
Cards With A Heart, based in Southern California, has successfully raised over $1,000,000 for charity through
a novel card program that mixes commerce with caring. From humble beginnings to the current standing as
a leader in raising money for the nonprofit sector, Cards With A Heart stays true to its mission, “Giving Value
to Customers, Giving Back to the Community.” Their high-quality greeting cards have become holiday traditions
among families and many businesses rely on Cards With A Heart for cards year-round.
In 1998 two corporate employees, Wendy Hauptman and Linda Kaidin, saw the opportunity to benefit charities
when they designed a holiday card for their employer. They suggested that monies saved from their in-house
artistry be donated to charity, thus beginning Cards With A Heart. These two dedicated women went on to
raise funds for many charities in their spare time, even going as far as helping the children of Para Los Niños
make 20,000 macaroni angels to fund a much-needed van for the charity.
Through the years, Cards With A Heart has amassed an impressive list of nonprofit clients including the
Alzheimer's Association, PanCan (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network), and the Susan G. Komen for
the Cure Affiliates.
Linda Kaidin, Wendy Hauptman and Kellie
Nicholson work hard to help charities raise
funds and send their message to the public
on personalized greeting cards.
